September 2017

Many people find themselves perplexed at what to do in the fall when it comes to their garden wondering: what do I grow? how do I prepare for next year? These are some of the common questions that every person who has a garden is faced with each year. Here are a few answers for these questions. Let’s start with what to grow.

Broccoli, Garlic, and Spinach are some of the plants that you can start growing in September. For more types of plants that you can grow in the autumn you should visit the following web site: www.ufseeds.com/What-To-Plant-Now.html

So, you have grown your autumn garden and harvested and possibly even canned your bounty and well, now what? Now it is probably the end of October perhaps the start of November and what do you do? Here is a short but straight forward list of essentials to having an easier and happier garden in the following spring.

1) Garden clean up: Gather up all of your trestles, supports, and other reusable resources, clean and bundle them before storing them away somewhere out of the weather.

2) Remove all plant matter from your garden. Weeds need to be removed and destroyed. You do not want weed seeds in your compost or in your garden. All other non-weed organic matter can be composted.

3) Finally, the mulch which is the covering. This can be just about anything ranging from leaves to wood chips. Many people will tell you that you can use a leaf mulch and they are correct. But I personally prefer wood chips. Just about anything will do.

Gardening does not have to stop at the end of summer. You can enjoy it right up to the start of winter. I hope you have enjoyed reading these useful tips on autumn gardening. Have a blessed day.
